On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Explain the importance of aircraft familiarization.
- Describe the common materials used in aircraft construction and the main aircraft components.
- Describe the key design differences between fixed-wing, cargo, and rotary-wing aircraft.
- Describe how the different types of aircraft engines work.
- Recognize the hazards associated with common aircraft systems, including fuel, pressurization, and electrical systems.
- Explain the functions of aircraft safety systems, such as fire extinguishing and evacuation systems, and their importance in ARFF response.
- Identify standard and emergency entry and egress points on aircraft.
- Identify the types of hazards ARFF personnel may encounter and appropriate safety precautions and response measures to take.
- Identify the main hazards posed by military aircraft.
