Learning Objectives

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

• Describe the major elements of the Air Transportation System including airports, aircraft operators and airlines and airspace.
• Explain the regulatory framework that governs aviation in the United States, including key departments and agencies.
• Understand various airport ownership models and explain the financial profile of an airport, including government programs and requirements.
• Describe the major components of airport operations and the importance of safety and security as operational imperatives.

The Airport Industry Orientation course covers the following topics:

Air Transport System

The three major elements of the Air Transportation System including airports, aircraft operators and airlines and airspace.

Regulatory Framework and Airport Governance

The regulatory framework that governs aviation in the United States, including key departments and agencies, and the key aspects of airport governance.

Ownership and Financial Management

Various airport ownership models and the financial profile of an airport, including government programs and requirements.

Airport Operations

The major components of airport operations and the importance of safety and security as operational imperatives.

Assessment

This course includes an integrated online assessment.

Candidates must successfully complete the assessment to receive a Certificate of Completion.
