The course can be taken as part of the Certificate in Airfield Maintenance for those wishing to gain a more complete understanding of airfield maintenance, including best practices for the maintenance of airfield pavements, markings, and electrical systems and NAVAIDs.

  • Developing a grass maintenance policy.
  • By whom, how, and to what height should airfield grass be cut.
  • Grass cutting equipment and disposal methods.
  • Safety procedures, particularly when maintaining grass in key zones around the runway.
  • The importance of maintaining the airport perimeter.
  • Key elements of the perimeter that require maintenance.
  • Key maintenance tasks for perimeter fencing, lighting, security systems, surrounding vegetation, and access control points and systems.

This course includes an integrated online assessment.

Candidates must successfully complete the assessment to receive a Certificate of Completion.
