Human Factors in Airport Security

Overview

The Human Factors in Airport Security course explores human factors considerations for airport security operations. 

While the course focuses on the human factors related to aviation security officers and conducting screening operations, it also looks at recruitment and training, and the human factors related to passengers and other airport staff.

This course can be taken as part of the Certificate in Airport Security for those wishing to deepen their understanding of the key concepts and best practices associated with airport security and gain the knowledge required to address modern airport security challenges.

  2. Human Factors in Security Design
    • Who should be considered when talking about human factors? 
    • Human factors that influence the effectiveness and efficiency of the airport security system. 
  3. Human Factors and New Technologies and Processes
    • The importance of addressing human factors considerations when implementing new security procedures, equipment, or technologies. 
    • Specific factors that should be considered. 
  4. Security Training
    • The requirements for aviation security (AVSEC) training.
    • International training assistance programs and resources available to support States and airports in developing AVSEC training programs. 

Assessment

This course includes an integrated online assessment.  

Candidates must successfully complete the assessment to receive a Certificate of Completion.
