This course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to safely and competently inspect, maintain, and test ARFF operational equipment. The course is mapped to and aligns with the following international standards:

→ ICAO Airport Services Manual, Part 1 Rescue and Fire Fighting – Chapter 17.

→ NFPA 1911 – Standard for the Inspection, Maintenance, Testing, and Retirement of In-Service Emergency Vehicles. 

→ NFPA 1900 – Standard for Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Vehicles, Automotive Fire Apparatus, Wildland Fire Apparatus, and Automotive Ambulances.

Competencies Obtained

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Identify equipment due for routine inspection, testing, and/or maintenance.
  • Determine the type of routine inspection, test, and/or maintenance required.
  • Describe the requirements for routine inspections, tests, and/or maintenance of ARFF operational equipment.
  • Explain the process for returning equipment to full operational readiness.
  • Appropriately record results, or report faults and deficiencies if required.

  • Manufacturer maintenance requirements for breathing apparatus.

This course includes an integrated online assessment.

Candidates must successfully complete the assessment to receive a Certificate of Completion for the course.
