On completion of this course participants will be able to:

• Recognize the importance of maintaining airfield pavement markings to ensure they remain clearly visible at all times.
• Explain the importance of, and techniques for, preparing the pavement surface prior to the application of new markings.
• Describe best practices for the removal and application of pavement markings.

This course covers the following topics:

1. Introduction
   • The importance of clearly visible airfield pavement markings.
   • When should markings be maintained?
   • Key considerations when it comes to maintaining airfield pavement markings.
2. Surface Preparation
   • Why surface preparation is important.
   • Contaminants that must be removed prior to paint application.
   • Techniques and equipment for preparing the pavement surface prior to the application of new markings.
3. Pavement Marking Removal and Application
   • The removal of existing markings.
   • Equipment used to apply markings.
   • Key considerations when applying paint on asphalt versus concrete pavements.

Assessment

This course includes an integrated online assessment.

Candidates must successfully complete the assessment to receive a Certificate of Completion.
