Security Incident Management and Response

Overview

The Security Incident Management and Response course explores the critical role incident and emergency management plays in airport security and provides insights on how to ensure response and recovery is planned and implemented effectively.

This course can be taken as part of the Certificate in Airport Security for those wishing to deepen their understanding of the key concepts and best practices associated with airport security and gain the knowledge required to address modern airport security challenges.

    • How airports can plan and prepare for security incidents. 
    • Procedures that should be included in an airport response plan for security incidents. 
  2. Incident Response
    • Defining roles and responsibilities. 
    • Establishing an emergency operations centre (EOC).
    • Managing communication with the public and media. 
    • Key considerations for evacuations. 
    • Evidence gathering and scene security. 
  3. Incidents Involving Aircraft
    • Key considerations when responding to security incidents involving aircraft, including:
      • Isolated parking areas.
      • Managing a threat against an aircraft on the ground.
      • Bomb disposal.  
  4. Incidents Not Involving Aircraft
    • Threats to landside areas.
    • Incidents in airside areas and secure zones.
    • Mass evacuations.
    • Bomb threats. 
    • Unattended items. 
  5. Post Incident Actions
    • The requirements for post incident review, reporting, and administration. 

Assessment

This course includes an integrated online assessment.  

Candidates must successfully complete the assessment to receive a Certificate of Completion.
