On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Describe the key properties of, and construction requirements for, common subgrade materials.
- Explain the general processes for, and key considerations when, using fine crushed rock, cement treated crushed rock, and foamed bitumen base in pavement construction.
- Describe the typical construction processes for, and items to consider during the construction of, asphalt, concrete, and concrete block pavers.
- Explain the rationale for, and key considerations when, conducting proof rolling as part of airport pavement construction.
- Recognize the need for rapid, or expedient, construction materials and methods for pavement upgrades.
- Explain the factors that should be considered when selecting expedient construction materials and methods.
