Overview

The Introduction to Airport Management course is designed to broaden your knowledge and understanding of airport operations and management.

It will explore the role of the airport within the aviation industry; the dynamic, complex, and highly regulated airport operating environment; and the key elements of airport operations and management.

You will gain a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing airports and best practices to address these.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the regulatory framework in which airports operate, including the role of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
  • Identify the key organizations, agencies, and personnel who work at airports to facilitate the passenger’s end-to-end journey.
  • Recognize the key role airports play in their community and the important social and economic benefits they bring.
  • Better understand the business of airport operations, including key airport business models, revenue sources, and expenses.
  • Describe the key elements of, and security requirements for, each of the three key areas of the airport – airside, landside, and terminal buildings.
  • Identify key focus areas for airport operators – both today and into the future.
